Someday I will write a proper artist statement. Until then, here is a bio:
Nate was born and raised in the frozen tundra of Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was interested in making art from a young age but did not do it regularly until his early twenties. In 2009 he made his way out to Oregon, where the mountains and natural beauty inspired him to go back to school and study art. 5 years later he earned a bachelors degree in Art Practices from Portland State University. His years in Portland were mostly spent painting landscapes and various nerdy pop culture pieces. He also illustrated the children’s book Theo Rio Loves the Water during the summer of 2020.
In 2022 he decided to move back to Wisconsin and now lives in De Pere. There may not be mountains or waterfalls of any substantial height here, but the time away has given him a greater appreciation for some of the nature he had taken for granted while growing up in these parts. He now mostly paints landscapes and various scenes, particularly those with a lot of nostalgic value, around Wisconsin in plein air style. And he still paints the occasional abstract or pop culture piece when the muse pushes him in that direction.
